IFREL Regional Chair of South Korea Encourages AI Research Collaboration Through Visiting Lectureship at Diponegoro University
Visiting Lecturer: Revolutionizing AI – The Power of Large Language Models
Semarang, October 28, 2025 – The Informatics Systems Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University, held a Visiting Lecturer activity entitled “Revolutionizing AI: The Power of Large Language Models.” This event is one of the academic agendas that aims to broaden the academic community's insight into the development of artificial intelligence technology while strengthening the international network between Diponegoro University and Hallym University, Korea.
The event was held online via the Zoom Meeting platform and featured two speakers: Dr. Abdul Karim, Chairman of IFREL Korea Regional and an academic from Hallym University, Korea, and Sandy Kurniawan, S.Kom., M.Kom., from Diponegoro University. Both shared strategic insights and research experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly regarding the application of Large Language Models (LLM) in various sectors of life.

In his presentation, Dr. Abdul Karim explained how Large Language Models are revolutionizing the way humans interact with technology through their ability to deeply understand the context of natural language. He also highlighted the potential for research collaboration between Indonesia and Korea in developing ethical, adaptive, and human-centered AI. Meanwhile, Sandy Kurniawan, S.Kom., M.Kom., emphasized the importance of Indonesian academics' readiness to utilize AI developments to support learning, research, and digital innovation in higher education.
This activity was attended by students, lecturers, and researchers from various universities in Indonesia. The discussion session was interactive, with many engaging questions surrounding the LLM working mechanism, the potential for international collaborative research, and the social impact of AI utilization in the digital age.
Through this Visiting Lecturer activity, IFREL, together with Diponegoro University, hopes to strengthen cross-border cooperation in the development of science and technology, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence. This activity is a clear demonstration of IFREL's commitment to building a highly competitive global academic network that has a tangible impact on the advancement of science and society.
